I just received your latest newsletter, and I’m curious about something you said. WHY no coffee or chocolate when you are working on a deadline? I would think that’s when you would need it the most. I have to have both on a regular basis anyway. No one would want to be around me if I didn’t.

  2. Diane says:

    Hi, Patricia!

I love the taste of chocolate and coffee. That’s why they’re a special treat when I finish a manuscript. But I’m one of the lucky few folks who metabolize them differently: they keep me up at night. And up at night, and up, and up… So if I want to focus on a manuscript, I need my beauty sleep and I avoid caffeine like the plague. Then indulge for a few glorious days until I start writing the next book!

  3. Patricia says:

Oh, that’s really too bad. Now if I drink the traditional espresso, then yes, I will lie awake all night google-eyed. But it’s good to know how you will react, because then you can plan for it.
