Release Day Party

March 29, 2011 | Better than chocolate,News,The stories,Tuning the instrument

Bitten by BooksHi there! It’s March 29th and THE SHADOW GUARD is finally out and about in a store near you, both in print and e-book!

To celebrate, I’m holding a Release Day Party at Bitten by Books, complete with giveaway and chatter about the wacky things that happen while writing a book. I promise to hang out by my computer all day so I can answer your questions and keep on chatting, on any topic you come up with. (Okay, so maybe my dog Honey thinks I’m doing this so she can chase squirrels all day. But this is all good for everyone, right?)

Hugs and kisses to everyone! Please stop by when you get a chance!

Astrid and Other Women of Power Come Alive in March Broad Pod

March 16, 2011 | News,The stories

Hi there! Astrid’s doings have made it into a podcast with other powerful women’s adventures!

Join hostess Jean Marie Ward for this March’s Woman Power collection of short readings from women writing across the realm of speculative fiction.

The Broad Pod is sponsored by Broad Universe, an international, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting, honoring, and celebrating women writers of science fiction, fantasy, and horror. Find out more about our organization, including new fiction released by women, more podcasts, and information about writing and publishing for women, at our website.

March is Women’s History Month, and this month’s talented women writers spotlight many aspects of Woman Power—and powerful women:

Charged with treason, Gail Z. Martin’s pregnant queen Kiera must wage a war of words to save herself, her friends, and her unborn child.

In Larissa N. Niec’s selection, the goddess Rhianna’s high priestess embarks on a dangerous spirit quest to seek help for her dying land.

Theresa Crater introduces her heroine—and us—to the legendary Morgan le Fey in the land beneath the hallowed hill.

Then journey with Diane Whiteside to present-day Virginia, where a psychically gifted homicide detective learns just how powerful a woman working for the FBI can be.

Finally, soar into the future with Danielle Ackley-McPhail and a squadron of hell-raising women fighter pilots led by the infamous Scarlet Jay.

Sit back. Enjoy. But don’t expect to relax—not around these women.

Please listen at http://broadpod.posterous.com

Thank you to Jean Marie for being a great hostess, all our readers, and all of you who share and enjoy these fun snippets of fiction and poetry!

Just How Good Really Is A Responsible Man?

March 14, 2011 | News,The stories

Hi there! I’m blogging today at Selena Illyria’s blog party for heroes, villains, and in between.

I’m specifically chatting about Jake Hammond, the hero of THE SHADOW GUARD, and his strong inclination toward the dark side – as in, become a total workaholic and lose any chance of Winning A Girl.

Please stop by and let me know what you think of guys who can’t stop thinking about work! I’ve even included an excerpt from THE SHADOW GUARD.

Where Past Meets Present

February 11, 2011 | News,The stories

Alexandria, VA Waterfront

Alexandria, VA Waterfront

Hi there!

I’m partying – uh, blogging – at Monica Burns’ big blog party today. I’ll be chatting about where past meets present. Otherwise known as how I managed to introduce my heroine (born in 1880′s Nebraska Territory) to a very modern-day homicide cop.

Please stop by and chat about books set in real places, where history walks.
